Craps Strategy

Before implementing any kind of strategy in the game of craps players must first understand how to play the game. Craps has a language all its own so if you don’t understand the game and how it is played it’s important to implement any kind of strategy. Before choosing a strategy it is recommended that players learn about the various bets in the game of craps, play free craps to gain experience, and even take a class at the casino during the day to help learn the basics.

Best Bet

The best craps bet is the pass line bet on the come out roll. For this bet the house edge is incredibly low at only 1.41%. The majority of the other bets have much higher house edges so they aren’t worth your time or money on this bet. Beginners will want to stick with this bet for a while until they learn more about the game and how to weigh risks.

Second Best

The second best bet is the odds bet after the come out roll. The most common is 2X although this may be different at various casinos it is common and recommended. One of the best things about the odds bet is that it has a payout of true odds. That means the edge on the odds bet for the house is 0, which is the best for the player. All players should take the odds bet.

Bets Not to Make

There are some bets that are available for players to make at the craps table that are absolutely terrible. For example, the bet known as “Big Six” has a house edge of 9.1%. That’s a bet that players should never make.

Another craps bet not to make is the “Big 8” because it has a horrible house edge of 9.1% as well. There is no reason to ever bet on the Big 6 or the Big 8 unless you just want to lose your money!

Worst Bets of All

After reading about the Big 6 and Big 8 you are probably writing yourself a note to avoid those bets forever. However, there are actually a couple more bets that are even worse and should be added to your “avoid” list. This includes the “Hard 4” and the “Hard 10” because they both have a house edge that exceeds 11%.

Tips

The best advice of all for a craps strategy is to simply avoid the four worst craps best and any of the others you choose will have to be better. However, if you consistently bet with the suggested bets above you will win more often than not.

Something else to keep in mind is that you don’t want to ask the dealers a lot of questions. The game moves fast and you don’t want to slow other players down or act like you don’t know what you are doing. Be sure you know the rules before playing.

Learn to speak the language of craps because it truly is different than any other game. Once you learn the language you will be prepared to be an excellent craps players.

Other things to keep in mind when playing craps is that you should never lean on the table or sit on it. Avoid putting your drink on the table, too, because all craps tables have little shelves that are under the table especially for glasses and chips.

These are just a few suggestions to help you create and improve your craps strategy. Doing this will ensure that over time you become a good player and may even win some jackpots!
