Annie Duke Speaks To Congress About Legalizing Online Gambling

Annie Duke the “Duchess of Poker” and WSOP (World of Series of Poker bracelet winner spoke before congress in support of online gambling.  She asked congress to legalize the sport, claiming that the debate is more about the rights of Americans to do what they want in their own homes and that American’s freedom of choice covered all choices, even bad ones.

“At its most basic level, the issue before this committee is personal freedom, the right of individual Americans to do what they want in the privacy of their homes without the intrusion of the government,” Duke testified. Unwise choices [are] part of freedom,” said Frank. Frank said that online gambling should not be outlawed just because it could hurt the user.

Aside from legalizing online gambling, Duke also spoke about the importance of regulating the industry.
