In a surprising occurrence, top chess players are beginning to take up online poker. Chess is a game that requires an incredible amount of skill and intelligence. Though poker isn’t seen as being quite as cerebral, it also takes a great deal of skill. Somehow, chess players are seeing some sort of connection between the two and are starting to learn and then play the game.

Gary Kasparov, one of the world’s best chest players, believes that learning poker poses such a challenge because it hasn’t yet been beat by a computer like chess has. Poker isn’t just about X’s and O’s but is dependent in large part to on human psychology. It is this unknown that makes it so appealing to top chess players.

Money is another reason. There is a lot of money to be made playing poker, much more so then playing chess. Some chess players are taking their considerable intelligence, focusing it on poker and making a lot of money. I’m suspecting that this trend won’t soon die down.
