Microgaming EmotiCoins Video Slot Finally Goes Live

One of the recent company’s projects was a staff-powered initiative which has given the world the latest addition to Microgaming’s extensive portfolio – an online video slot called EmotiCoins. As its name suggests, the game is based on emoticons and brings a five reel layout with 30 paylines.

Two minds behind the idea are Anna McChesney and Rob Mercer, who first introduced the whole concept on Microgaming Idea Factory, another company’s award-winning staff-powered initiative.

Anna McChesney, who works as Microgaming’s PR Manager said she was inspired and fascinated by the use of emoticons in social media and communication. She added this game would target a large group of consumers since 92% of the world’s population was using emoticons.

One of Five Winning Ideas

McChesney and Mercer conducted a thorough analysis of the influence the emoticons had on the social media and eventually submitted the concept to the Idea Factory back in June last year.

The idea quickly gained the backing of the Business Intelligence team, which helped them further develop and refine the game concept by suggesting certain features.

The EmotiCoins game was presented to the Decision Panel, a body comprised of senior executives, in November, while the official announcement came at the staff Christmas party. As one of five winning ideas of the Idea Factory, the game’s development started in January 2017.

Rob Mercer stated it was amazing to see what they had done with the concept, and said they loved the completed game.

Lucrative Features

When it comes to the game itself, EmotiCoins will bring familiar emoticons to the reels, including  Tears of Joy, Kiss and Winking Face. Also, the game boasts two new Wild features – Wild Blast and Wild Stickers which will be available in both the Main Game and the Free Spins.

Wild Blast gives give additional Wilds and a guaranteed win, while the Wild Stickers is activated when three Scatters land on the reels during the Main Game, awarding 10 spins.
