New Orleans Casino Post the Largest Winnings Drop in March

The New Orleans Casinos saw their winnings fall by 12.2 percent within the month of March; this is the largest drop in activity for any of the state’s gambling regions.
These gaming establishments brought in more than $51.5 million during the month of March, according to the figures that were released on Monday by the Louisiana State Police. This is being compared to the nearly $58.7 million in winnings during the month of March 2015.
Harrah’s Casino dropped a total of 20.7 percent in the month of March. The reported winnings were down to $24 million from $30.2 million within the month of March 2015. This casino has ultimately been hit very hard by the New Orleans smoking ban, which ultimately forces gamblers to leave the slot machine and gaming tables that they are on in order to smoke a cigarette.
Winning that was reported by the Fair Ground Casino dropped by 12.5 percent. The reported winnings were down to $4.1 million from winning in March 2015 that were reported as $4.6 million. When compared to the winning that were reported in March of 2015 all of the casinos located at racetracks saw their earnings fall.
One of the very few winners within the state of Louisiana was the Treasure Chest Riverboat Casino, which in fact saw their gaming revenue increase by 1.9 percent. These reported winning were up to $9.2 million from March of 2015 which reported winnings of just under $9 million. The Boomtown New Orleans Casino as well as the Treasure Chest Casino which are both located in Jefferson Parish and set outside of the New Orleans smoking ban have generally been seeing their revenue go up with these recent months.
