Playtech Starts the Online Casino Era in Czech Republic

On February 24, the history was made in the Czech Republic when Ministry of Finance granted the country’s first ever licence to operate an online casino.

The honor of being the first online operator in this Central European country, was bestowed upon Playtech, one of the leading names in the business, which will be present on the market with its Czech-based Fortuna brand.

Fortuna has already went live, offering a wide variety of Playtech’s releases, available across all platforms, including Age of Gods, Gladiator and White King. But it’s only a preview of what to expect in the following months, since more titles are being added regularly.

Only the Beginning

Fortuna and Playtech started their cooperation in August of last year. The main goal of this partnership is to establish firm position in the market, while high quality gaming platform provided by Playtech has the means to make Fortuna one of the leading operators in Central and Eastern Europe. The ambitious plans don’t end there, since the two companies are planning to enter several other new markets, including Romania, Poland and Slovakia.

Playtech expressed its delight to be the first online operator in the Czech Republic, announcing further expansion of its offer in this market.

David Vanek, General Manager of Fortuna CZ said the company had to fulfill strict conditions of the new Czech legislation, which is a guarantee that players in the Czech Republic can look forward to high quality online content.

He also mentioned the importance of online casino in the plans for future expansion, which are quite ambitious since Vanek expects the Fortuna offering to be in the very top when it comes to Europe.

Playtech was founded 18 year ago and today has more than 5,000 employees in 13 countries and territories. With its HQ in Douglas, Isle of Man, the company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is one of the most respected names in the industry.
