Poker Players Alliance Wants Commerce To Have A Change of Heart

The Poker Players Alliance has reached out to their members, asking them to sign a letter addressed to Commerce Casino, in an effort to get them to change their position on the legislation sponsored by Representative Barney Frank which favors the legalization and regulation of online poker. More than 7000 of their members answered the call and signed, amongst them were Huck Seed, Phil Ivey, Annie Duke, Chris Moneymaker, Tom Dwan, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Laak, Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer and Erick Lindgren.

Commerce Casino, which claims to be the largest poker room in the world, asked Tom Malkasisan to speak on their behalf to the House Financial Services Committee in July. Rep. Frank’s bill passed anyway, however, not without first being marked up.

Many of the problems that Malkasian and Commerce had with the bill were addressed. Even still, Commerce refuses to support Frank’s bill. That has the Poker Players Alliance upset. But Malkasisan and Commerce refuse to budge on their stance, citing that illegal foreign sites would still be allowed licenses despite their poor behavior in the past.
