T.J. Cloutier’s Bracelet Finds A Home
We reported here a few days ago that T.J. Cloutier’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet was being auctioned off on Ebay. There was some initial doubt about whether or not it was authentic. It was. Well, it has found a home. The poker website, Cake Poker, purchased it for $4,006.
For those of you who are unaware of who Cloutier is, he is a notable poker champion, actually a bit of a legend. The WSOP bracelet on sale on Ebay was from his 2005 WSOP championship. The bracelet was made of 14 k gold and encrusted with diamonds. Along with the jewelry, he won $657,100. His lifetime earnings are nearly $10 million dollars.
When contacted about the authenticity of the bracelet, Cloutier admitted that it was his. He reportedly fell on hard times and was forced to pawn the bracelet. He had plans on getting it back but was unable to reclaim it in time. Here is his exact quote, “I don’t want to talk about it,” he said. “Yeah, it’s mine. I was short. I pawned it. I tried to get it back with my ticket but I was too late.” Cake Poker, feeling a bit benevolent has agreed to give the bracelet back to its rightful owner, T.J. Cloutier.
