William Hill’s Revenues Down
William Hill Online and William Hill Plc, an internet and land based British gambling group, reported mediocre results this week. Revenues were down nearly 10% in 2009. This was a pretty significant drop from 2008, when revenues were up 4%.
Since integrating their online gambling operations, the company has steadily established their brand, earning $203.5 million in 2009. However, they, like many other gambling companies (online and offline) are struggling due to the poor economy.
Offline, William Hill has granted more gambling licenses in 2009 but those gains were offset by the need to shut down a few casinos in Ireland. The company is hoping to see a rebound in their fortunes, when the World Cup (football) begins. Hill expects to earn about 10 million GBP during this event alone.
