Zynga to Enter Internet Gambling Marketing

Zynga is probably best well known for their games, FarymVille and Zynga Poker. The company is contemplating expanding into the online gambling market. The company confirmed as much this Friday. They are actively discussing entering the internet gambling market with possible partners. As of right now, discussions center around  an effort to “better understand and explore” the opportunity in online gambling involving real money”

Zynga has already has already forayed into the internet marketing arena. Their Zynga Poker game is extremely popular. In fact, 30 million people play the game each month. However, they can’t do so for real money.

The discussion about offering gambling for real money is occurring in large part because of the U.S. DOJ ruling that internet based gambling is not a violation of Federal Law.  More and more companies are looking to take advantage of the ruling and profit from it, including Zynga.
