Spanish Land-Based Casino Introduces Deposit Bonus
- November 20, 2017 By Oliver Young -
We usually associate casino bonuses with online casinos, as online operators are the ones that offer a welcome bonus, but often also a range of other bonuses and promotions. Offering welcome bonuses has been hailed as one of the most successful techniques for attracting new customers. Players always consider the amount that is offered as a deposit bonus, but the bonus match percentage and the wagering requirement, as well as the other bonus terms and conditions are also important.
In the past few years the number of people who play real money games at online casinos has been growing, whereas the number of visitors to land-based casinos is stagnating. There are multiple reasons for the growing popularity of online casinos, but the fact that online casino gaming is a lot more convenient than playing at a land-based casino is often mentioned, as is the fact that online casinos offer bonuses and promotions which aren’t available at land-based casinos.
Grupo Ballesteros Now Completely Owns Casino de Illescas
And while it is not usual for land-based casinos to offer bonuses, especially not deposit bonuses, one Spanish land-based casino decided to try to lure more customers by offering a casino bonus similar to the ones offered by online operators. Namely, Grupo Ballesteros decided to announce its latest acquisition by offering a special first deposit bonus. Grupo Ballesteros is a renowned Spanish casino operator that already owned the popular Casino de Illescas, located in Toledo which is formarly known as Gran Casino de la Mancha.
However, despite the fact that Grupo Ballesteros was already a majority owner of the casino, the company still decided to buy out the rest of the casino shares from its former business partners – Zhou Ye Haiguan and Jose Sanchez Colilla. Ballesteros now owns the whole casino.
In order to celebrate the deal, the management decided to offer its customers a type of bonus that is frequently offered by online casinos, but, so far, had no place in the land-based industry. The casino will now offer its customers 20% of their deposits, up to a maximum of €250 and it won’t even matter whether the player intends to spend its funds on slots, or table games.
Will other Operators Catch Up?
Maybe the bonus percentage (20%) can’t compare to the 100% and 200% deposit bonuses that are offered by certain online casinos, but bear in mind that the maximum bonus amount is quite high and that the bonus isn’t offered under the same bonus terms and conditions under which online bonuses are offered.
Whether this will serve as a motive for other land-based casinos to start offering deposit bonuses, we are yet to find out. Grupo Ballesteros already operates dozens of bingo halls throughout the country and is licenced to offer online bing, as well as casino games.
Ballesteros runs the largest Spanish bingo site together with three other companies and it is clear that the company is ahead of its competitors with its plans to introduce online casino elements to land-based casinos. If other operators join in, this might become a permanent trend.
