In the United States, a disturbing poker trend is beginning to develop, armed robberies at poker games hosted at private homes. In Texas alone, several were reported in only a matter of weeks. This isn’t the only state that is experiencing this sort of violence and theft. There was recently a shooting in Oregon and also Ohio.

Recently, in the state of Oregon, several men forced every one down on the floor in an Oregon home during a poker tournament, using guns. They proceeded to rob everyone inside the home and then sprayed them with pepper spray. Eighteen players were in attendance, most knew each other.

What was especially disturbing regarding this tournament is that it was invitation-only.  Most participants were friends. They knew each other. This means that somehow the information leaked to the wrong person(s) or that this was an inside job. Money, jewelry, credit cards, car keys and mobile phones were stolen by the masked gunmen.

Some suggest that this is reason enough to play at online poker rooms,. High stake private games are beginning to become too risky and eventually, someone will likely be killed.
