Doyle Brunson Takes a Break From Poker
Poker legend, Doyle Brunson, will be forced to take some time off from the game he has helped to bring to the masses because of a necessary health procedure. Dental surgery will require him to take some time off to recover. Brunson has announced that he will miss PartyPoker Premier League IV and a number of other tournaments. The Premier League IV game is a high stakes game, with a $100,000 buy-in and has a pretty large European audience. Though disappointed, Brunson felt unable to fully participate and so decided to opt out.
Not only is Doyle’s dental surgery anticipated to take a lot out of him but he admitted that he was tired after the Affiliate Conference 2010 in London. His return to the felts is set for the 2010 World Series of Poker which will be held in May of this year. This gives him a few months to rest up and get back to his old self. Setting this as the date of his return, means that Brunson will miss the NBC Heads Up Championship, a WPT event, PokerStars TV tournament and a host of celebrity tournaments.
