U.S. Military: No Gambling Allowed!

Military personnel are allowed internet access but with restrictions. Individuals can now visit and join social networking websites. They are not, however, allowed to gamble online.

This allowance is a bit of a departure from previous rulings on the subject.  In the past, each branch of the military made their own rules regarding internet use. All three branches have since decided to create a uniform policy.

The ability to access and utilize social networking websites is a fairly new allowance. Prior to 2007, individuals could not use these sites at all. Higher ups have since recognized the meaningfulness and effectiveness that these sites provide as it concerns communication between military personnel, their family members and loved ones.
