The Wolf’s Bane by NetEnt Arrives Just in Time for Halloween!
- October 28, 2019 By Oliver Young -
Less then two weeks after it released the cute Sweety Honey Fruity slot, NetEnt is about to make your hair raise with its new slot The Wolf’s Bane. The slot arrives just in time for Halloween, the holiday we’ve been waiting so impatiently to come.
While you were carving pumpkins and preparing the candies, and maybe choosing the perfect spooky costume to wear, NetEnt has been preparing the arrival of its new horror-themed slot, based on the industry-standard 10-payline 5-reel format, offering several special features.
The Werewolf Howls at the Full Red Moon
Halloween and horror-themed slots are in abundance, such as RTG’s Witch’s Brew, but rarely can developers set the creepy mood as good as NetEnt. In The Wolf’s Bane, the developer takes you to the 18th century, to a scary little village where strange things happen as soon as the red moon appears. The haunted reels, plagued by spooky nurses, ghastly soldiers, nightmarish clairvoyants and gravediggers add an uncanny feel to the medieval village background, and the goosebump-creating soundtrack only complements the terrifying werewolf howls. Even the playing card Royals are blood-stained, but you’ll freak out the most when you see the Wild, with a man in a shape-shifting stage of therianthropy, becoming a werewolf under the influence of the red moon. The Scatter is the moon itself, while the Scattered Bonus symbol is the man holding a crossbow.
When the Scattered Bonus symbol appears on reels 1, 3 and 5, it triggers the Pick and Click bonus feature. You will need to choose one of the three Scattered Bonus symbols to pick up a prize from 5x to 50x.
With 3 to 5 Full Moon Scatters, you summon the werewolves and trigger 10, 20 or 30 Free Spins, respectively. A Wild Board screen will appear with 4 different Wild symbols on it: the Regular Wild described above, the Spreading, the 2x Multiplier and the Expanding Wild. You will need to hit the “Stop” button for the selector to stop and highlight one of the four Wilds which will be your Wild for the duration of the Free Spins. The Regular Wild substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter. The 2x Multiplier Wild, naturally, multiplies your wins by 2x. The Expanding Wild covers the entire reel it lands on. And the Spreading Wild turns 1 diagonal or adjacent symbol into an additional Wild.
For the duration of the Free Spins, an Overlay Wild will appear at random on the first three reels, too, on each spin, which will play the same role as the active Wild, as chosen by the selector. The Free Spins can be retriggered without limits, and new Free Spins will be automatically added to the total.
NetEnt’s Statement on the Release
Bryan Upton, NetEnt’s Director of Games said that the new release was an amazingly-designed slot, which would definitely make Halloween-fans hair stand on end.
Upton said that The Wolf’s Bane was purposefully timed to be released in time for Halloween, even though the game still was one of those titles with a classic horror theme. Therefore, Upton said, everyone at NetEnt expected that The Wolf’s Bane would have longevity and would appeal to a wide audience, thanks to its proven game mechanics.
