ABOUT MOTORHEAD SLOTS
Motorhead is the third and final game in the rock and roll themed slot series created by NetEnt. The slot puts the legendary Lemmy from Motorhead at the forefront, and loads the game while blasting Ace of Spades at full volume. With an unusual reel design, Bomber and Mystery reel features, and free spins, NetEnt decided to make their newest release more diverse than the boringly generic Jimi Hendrix game.
The slot is set on a rock stage backdrop, with transparent reels. This makes sure that the player can drink in the atmosphere, which is double as effective when you turn on Rock Mode, and the band’s music plays. The symbols are less inspired, unfortunately. There are seven standard icons, which include Lemmy, a gold star, a silver bell, a lucky seven, cherries, a horseshoe and a four leaf clover. Motorhead also has special symbols: Wilds, depicted as spades, and Scatters, drawn as a screaming demon skull.
HOW TO PLAY
Unlike the other two games in the series, the reel setup is more like the Dazzle Me slot, and it works very well for the game. After adjusting the bet level and coin value, spin the reel. Optionally, make use of the AutoPlay feature and let the winning combinations fall into place by themselves.
The game has Wilds, but they are not overly exciting. They pay nothing by themselves, and only serve to complete the reels if you are lucky. Instead, the stars of the show are the Mystery Reel and Bomber bonuses.
Every time you spin the reels, one of the reels will be stacked with mystery symbols. They only reveal themselves after the spin has ended, and offer a bit of drama with each spin. The Bomber takes this a step further, as it blasts several mystery icons across the reels, before revealing them for a massive win.
The unorthodox approach to the reels and mystery symbols are not the only tricks this game has up its sleeve. It also offers a set of more conventional special features which come very handy.
Motorhead gives you the option of winning 10 free spins by landing three or more Scatters on the reels. While the bonus is active, mystery reels can show both mystery symbols and Wilds. That said, free spins come very rarely in the game.
Scatters serve no other purpose than to trigger the Free Spins in the game. Scatters appear on reels 3, 4 and 5, and unlike other slots, they offer no monetary benefit for combining them.
The game’s largest win comes from the symbol of the legendary Motorhead frontman. Getting five Lemmys to appear will earn you x150 your stake. Playing at the highest bet level and coin value, this will earn you $30,000.
MOTORHEAD ON MOBILE
The gameplay and bonus features remain exactly the same in the mobile version of this slot. NetEnt’s port is very well done, with only minor changes done to adjust for a smaller screen and a touch interface.
Unfortunately, a big issue is that the Rock Mode is not an option you can toggle in the mobile version of the game. You can play with the sound off, or with the rock tunes blasting from your tablet or phone, which can be awkward playing somewhere in public.
